Frequently Asked Questions
What falls under mechanical tuning?
These are modifications that affect the behaviour and character of the car: fitting sports suspension components, modifying the braking system, optimising intake and exhaust, strengthening engine cooling. Unlike visual tuning, this is not about appearance but about the dynamics, stability and responsiveness of the car.
How much does mechanical tuning cost?
The price is always individual, as it depends on the components chosen, the vehicle model and the scope of work. The initial inspection and consultation are free: we assess the technical condition of the car, discuss your goals and prepare a plan with a specific price — before you take on any commitment.
Where does it make sense to start if I want “more power”?
With a conversation about the goal. “More power” can mean different things: responsiveness in the city, pull on the motorway, exhaust sound, behaviour in corners. What to modify — intake, exhaust, cooling, suspension or brakes — follows from that. At the free consultation we help turn a general wish into a specific plan, rather than sell the first set of parts to hand.
Will tuning affect reliability and the technical inspection?
These are two questions worth discussing before work begins. Some modifications are neutral for durability, some increase the load on other components, and that has to be taken into account. The permissibility of changes at the STK is addressed separately. We go through both aspects at the consultation, so you don’t run into unexpected consequences later.
Is it worth modifying the brakes and suspension, not just the engine?
Often that’s more sensible than chasing power. A car that brakes better and holds the road more confidently delivers a more tangible and safer result in real driving than a power increase with standard brakes. That’s why we often suggest starting with the suspension and brakes — and explain why that will give you more in your case.
